The Panther Comets open their spring season on blustery Sunday afternoon against the TFS Force in Frankfort, IL. The Comet’s showed up ready to play doing a wonderful job of controlling the ball and the tempo of the game. The defense made up of Anna Bruzdzinski, Anna Jost, Jazmine Newton, and Audrey Mockenhaupt did a superior job shutting down the Force offensive attack. Throughout the first half the Comets dominated the play with several early opportunities by forwards Grace Pagone and Hannah Castillo. The Comets were able to get on the board first when midfielder Morgan Brown took possession of the ball, evaded the Force defense and sent a rocket past the keeper putting the Comets up 1 – nil. Early in the Second half the Force was able to even the score at 1-1. The Comet’s continued to battle throughout the remainder of the game just missing the net several times. Midfielders Emily Milton, Annie Livingston, Aubrey Anderson, and Brown controlled the middle of the field setting up quality opportunities for the Comet offensive attack. Splitting time in goal were Pagone and Livingston who held the opposition to one goal while making several outstanding saves. The Comet’s played a terrific game resulting in a 1-1 season opening tie.
