Q. Who provides coaching for the club?
A. Panther Soccer Club utilizes a hybrid coaching model, where the coaching is done though a combination of professional trainers and a parent coach. Soccer Success is the company hired by PSC for our training.
Q. How does the hybrid model work?
A. The professional trainer assigned to each team is the one who is responsible for developing the overall training curriculum for the soccer year. He/she is also responsible for organizing and running the individual practice sessions. The parent coach assists the trainer in the practice sessions. During the actual games, the parent coach and the trainer share the responsibility for game related decisions.
Q. What certifications do the coaches have?
A. The professional trainers are individuals that typically average 8-10 years coaching experience and carry a minimum of a national D coaching license or its equivalent. Parent coaches are required at a minimum to carry a state youth module certification appropriate to their team's age group, but most hold a national E license or higher.
Q. How is playing time decided for my child?
A. The trainer and/or parent coach award playing time based on several criteria, including skill, fitness, attendance at practice, attitude, and experience matching a specific game situation.
Q. How long are training sessions?
A. Practices are typically 1 hour each for the youngest age groups (U10 and below), and 1.5 hours each for older teams.
Q. Do the professional trainers attend all games?
A. No. By contract, the trainers are obligated to attend a minimum of 5 league games per season, and provide a best effort to attend 2 tournaments per soccer year.
