The U10 Prowlers representing the Panther Soccer Club of Oswego traveled to the highly competitive Eclipse Select Soccer Tournament in Oak Brook this past weekend. The Prowlers started off strong against the Skulls from Naperville. Chase Bruns opened up the scoring on a breakaway to put the Prowlers up 1-0. The Prowlers had numerous chances in the first half but could not put another shot in the goal. The Skulls came back with three quick goals to go up 3-1 at halftime. With Mitch Kearby, Tim Mackey, Jacob Hoopes and Mitch Blocker controlling the ball the second half for the Prowlers they were able to tie the score up 4-4. Two more goals by Bruns and one by Kearby helped the Prowlers complete their scoring. The defense of Hunter Short, Ben Sapet, Owen Flynn, Jackson Simon and Craig Schlegel played a great second half. They were able to stop many attacks and denied the Skulls a good shot. Kurtis Klingbeil played a great game in goal for the Prowlers stopping numerous shots. In the end the Skulls scored in the closing minutes and won the hard fought game 5-4.
Next up for the Prowlers were the Carol Stream Panthers. Both teams played tough in the very cold and windy conditions. The Carol Stream Panthers scored all of their goals in the first half and won 3-0. Craig Schlegel and Cody Gotchie played well in goal for the Prowlers. All of the Prowler Players: Blocker, Bruns, Kearby, Sapet, Simon, Flynn, Short, Bruns, Hoopes, Mackey played very well during the contest.
On the last day of the Tournament, the Prowlers ran up against the Plainfield Legends, The top team in the bracket. The final result was a 5-1 loss by the Prowlers. Chase Bruns netted the only goal for the Prowlers. Again, all of the Prowlers played well and continued to improve on their skills.
