Match Report: 5/8/08 vs. Naperville Skulls

The U10 Prowlers took on the Skulls from Naperville on Thursday May 8 in Oswego.  Both teams started off strong in the first half as they each exchanged chances to score.  The Skulls were able to forge ahead late in the first half with a nice shot to go up 1-0 at halftime.  Tim Mackey, Ben Sapet, Craig Schlegel, Jackson Simon, Cody Gotchie and Hunter Short did a tremendous playing defense for the Prowlers.  Kurtis Klingbeil played goal for the Prowlers in the first half and made many nice stops against the Skulls. The second half saw the Prowlers playing a strong offensive game.  It appeared the Prowlers were running downhill as Mitch Kearby, Mitch Blocker, Jacob Hoopes and Chase Bruns created plenty of opportunities for each other on the offensive end.  The Prowlers got the first goal of the game minutes after the second half started with Chase Bruns depositing a shot in the bottom corner to tie the score up at 1-1.  Later in the second half the Prowlers were able to go up 2-1 when Mitch Kearby was able to dribble past the goalie and score on the open net.  At this point the Prowlers were passing and creating for each other.  Unfortunately, with 7 minutes to go the Prowlers were unable to maintain the lead and surrendered 3 goals and lost 4-2.  Cody Gotchie stopped numerous point blank shots for the Prowlers in the second half and did a great job in goal.  The U10 Prowlers, a mix of 9 and 10 year old boys, from the Oswego/Plainfield area are doing a great job of playing together as a team.  They play their next Home game on May 17 at 3:00 at PrairieFest Park.  This is the last home game of the year for this team until the Panther Soccer Festival during Memorial Day weekend that is being held at Oswego High School.  The Prowlers have a 2-1 mark for the Spring season as they represent the Panther Soccer Club of Oswego.
