Following the recommendations of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) to play more small sided games for youths, the Illinois Youth Soccer Association (IYSA) has announced new game formats for all age groups U12 and below.
The IYSA announced that all game formats for U12 and below will be changed to adopt the small sided games. The main boys league, NISL, and the girls league, IWSL, have worked to adopt these changes while maintaining consistency across leagues wherever possible.
Effective for the Fall 2008 season, the game formats will be as listed below. Note that for ages U13 and up, there is no change from the current 11v11 format.
