Panther Ice U13 Girls lost 2-1 against NSA this week. Ice scored early in the first half with a goal from Caeleigh Morton off an assist from Taylor Gibson and were still leading 1-0 with 2 minutes left in the first half when a mis-placed Ice goal-kick landed at the feet of an NSA forward who just booted it back into the net. The Panthers were so rattled by this that on the restart they let NSA through again to go up a goal. At half-time Ice regained their composure and fought hard in the second half, but both teams only got a couple of scoring opportunitites and neither could capitalise on it. Despite only having 1 sub for most of the game this was arguably Ices best-played game ever. The defense looked strong in front of keeper Emily Maslanka as they adjusted to their new formation with Madison Naro taking the sweeper spot for the first time in light of Kate Stefanski being out injured and Chandre Roos, Taylor Robinson and Dana Stout doing their usual great job. Midfielders Gibson, Brittany Straznickas, Sierra McWilliams, Holly Schwarz, Nina Hauser and Victoria Short (who rushed from a concert recital to help her team in the second half of the game) did an excellent job of passing and getting the ball up to the forwards and supporting the defense, while forwards Morton and Bridgett Leverich worked hard to create the scoring opportunities.
