Match Report: 4/20/08 vs TCSA Quiet Lightning Print
Sunday, 20 April 2008

Panthers Ice U13 Girls kicked off the season with a disappointing 2-2 tie in St. Charles against TCSA Quiet Lightning in their first game since moving up to C Division. The Ice girls played a beautiful passing game, totally dominated the possession and had many, many scoring opportunities but uncharacteristically just could not get the ball into the opposing team's goal, and in their enthusiasm to keep pressing the attack occasionally let TCSA get in behind them giving TCSA a couple of easy goals.

Despite the ball being in the TCSA half for about 75% of the first half, Ice went into half-time trailing 1-0 and things just got worse early in the second half when TCSA scored again to lead 2-0. Undeterred, the Ice girls kept the pressure up and eventually their persistence payed off when Sierra McWilliams was fouled in the TCSA penalty box, giving Ice a penalty kick which was cooly slotted into the net by Caeleigh Morton. Ten minutes before the end of the game McWilliams again made a run into the TCSA box and this time finished it herself to tie the game up at 2-2.

All of the Ice girls (Emily Maslanka, Taylor Robinson, Dana Stout, Chandre Roos, Nina Hauser, Madison Naro, Holly Schwarz, Sierra McWilliams, Taylor Gibson, Brittany Straznickas, Bridgett Leverich, and Caeleigh Morton) played well today, but particular mention has to go to Gibson and Naro for some beautiful crosses to the forwards, and to Roos and Hauser for their extraordinary hussle on defense, including Hauser dashing back from midfield to clear a ball off the Ice goal-line.

Ice are now looking forward to next weekend when they'll play TCSA Flames in St. Charles on Saturday and Plainfield Legends Select at home in Oswego in Sunday.
