Match Report: 5/18/08 vs Bolingbrook Raiders Print
Sunday, 18 May 2008
Panthers Ice U13 Girls suffered their first league loss since Spring 2007, losing 3-2 to Bolingbrook Raiders. Ice started the game in style with some beautiful passing across the midfield between Taylor Gibson, Brittany Straznickas, Nina Hauser and Sierra McWilliams, with the ball ending up at forward Bridgett Leverich who placed the ball right at the feet of forward Caeleigh Morton to carry past 3 defenders and slam into the far corner of the net for Ice's opening goal. Bolingbrook kept Ice's keeper Emily Maslanka and defenders Chandre Roos, Dana Stout, Madison Naro, and Taylor Robinson busy, but not terribly worried. Holly Schwarz, Victoria Short, and Amy Annala joined the midfield  to help push the offense and managed to produce another excellent goal when Gibson one-touched the ball to Schwarz, who in turn one-touched it to Leverich and on to Morton for her second goal, taking Ice into half-time leading 2-0. The tide turned in the second half when Straznickas was injured while pressing an attack and, as Ice were regrouping, Bolingbrook managed to get through and score on 2nd-half keeper Annala. From that point, Ice lost their momentum and focus and despite many great individual efforts could never quite recover the teamwork they'd shown in the first half. Ice are now looking forward to playing NSA at home on Wednesday and to meeting Bolingbrook again on Friday in their opening game of the Oswego tournament.
