The U11 Girls Panther Pride paticipated in the Oswego Memorial Weekend Soccer tournament and came home with the U11 White division First Place Trophy.panther_pride_1.jpg

The Pride started out the tournament on Friday night with a 5-3 victory over Galaxy White. The Pride dominated the first half and took a 3-1 lead. The Pride added two goals in the second half followed by 2 late goals by Galaxy after the game was out of reach. Lauren Wilson had an excellent game at right mid field with three assists. Kristi Zimbelmann played superb at left midfield adding two goals and an assist.

Saturday morning the Pride defeated the NSA Premier 3-1 off three goals by Kelsey Kraft with assists from Kamryn Coppes, Mikaela Mockenhaupt, and Caitlyn Lukowski. The Pride took a 2-0 lead into the half and added a third goal before NSA added a goal late in the game to avoid the shut out. Excellent defensive play by Coppes, Lukowski, Cali Bonie, and Alyson Simon held NSA in check. Mackenzie Bell, Eliza Soyars, and Courtney Gardner played superb at midfield and forward.

The Pride then faced a strong Glenn Ellyn Raiders Team and battled to a 2-2 tie. The Raiders scored first off a break from midfield however, the Pride answered right back on an unassisted goal by Kraft when she intercepted the goal kick and took it in for the score. The Raiders tied the game up early in the second half off another fast break from midfield. The Pride then turned up the heat looking for a victory dominating the play in the Raider end of the field and just missing on several shots. The game ended in a tie with players from both teams exhausted from a highly competitive game. Excellent saves were made by Pride Goalies, Madison Pence and Cali Bonie to keep the Pride in the game.

The Pride defeated the Fox Valley Strikers 3-2 in the finale to win the tournament. The Pride found the net 2 times in the first half to take a 2-0 half time lead. The first goal came when Lukowski took the ball from the defender and scored unassisted. The Raiders best scoring chance in the first half was stopped by an excellent defensive play by Emily Nagel who cleared the ball away from an attacker at the top of the goal box. The Pride then added a third goal early in the second half. The Strikers came back scoring two goals however, the Pride held on for the 3-2 victory and the championship. Throughout the tournament Pence and Bonie provided excellent goal keeping making numerous saves. The Pride had a total team effort throughout the tournament that led them to victory.
