The U11 Panther Pride continued their winning ways on Saturday with a 2-0 win over the TCSA Bulldogs. The hard fought match pitted against each other two early season unbeaten teams.
The Pride started off quicker, holding the ball in the Bulldogs end for much of the first half only to have several scoring opportunities go just went wide of the mark. Kristi Zimbelmann put in an outstanding game a midfield helping to control the ball and keep it in the Bulldog’s end. Late in the first half Mikaela Mockenhaupt took control of the ball moving it into the Bulldog’s end, then made an excellent pass to Caitlyn Lukowski who avoided several defenders to get a hard shot on net which was deflected by the Bulldog goaltender to Kelsey Kraft who put the ball in the back of the net for the goal. The Bulldogs came back with intensity only to be stymied by excellent defensive play by Kamyrn Coppes, Lauren Wilson, Alison Simon and Cali Bonie. Madison Pence helped to deliver a first half shut out by providing superior goalkeeping.
Early in the second half the Bulldog’s continued to push to tie the game only to have several scoring opportunities thwarted by excellent saves from second half goaltender Bonie. Eliza Soyars provided pressure from the forward position giving the Pride additional offensive opportunities. The Pride iced the game with a goal that started with a header from Courtney Gardner to Mockenhaupt, who passed the ball to Lukowski who then made a centering pass to Kraft who nailed the ball into the upper corner of the net. Very good goaltending by both Pence and Bonie throughout the game kept the Bulldogs scoreless to ensure the victory.
The Pride will face Plainfield next week in a cross town match.
