The U10 Prowler Soccer played in the Oswego Soccer Classic over the weekend and played great. They opened up their first game against the TCSA Eagles and both teams battled back and forth. The Eagles opened up the scoring but the Prowlers came stroming back thanks to Chase Bruns who netted the first goal of the game for the Prowlers to tie the score at 1-1. The defense of the Prowlers was once again very strong with Craig Schlegel, Kurtis Klingbeil, Tim Mackey, Ben Sapet, Hunter Short and Jackson Simon styming the Eagles on most occassions. The midfeld combination of Mitch Blocker, Mitch Kearby, Tim Mackey and Cody Gotchie kept the ball on the opponents side most of the time. The second half saw the intensity increased as the Eagle scored again to go up 2-1. But then Kearby netted his first goal of the game via his left foot to again tie the score at 2-2. Owen Flynn played a good second half at striker and the reliable goalie tandem of Klingbeil and Gotchie thwarted many shots. The first game of the tournament for the Prowlers ended up being a 2-2 tie. The Prowlers opened up the second game against the Aurora Kickers Soccer Club. The Prowlers fell down early 1-0. That goal seemed to jump start the Prowlers as they scored 7 unanwered goals. Chase Bruns had three goals, Mitch Kearby added three goals as well and MItch Blocker tallied his first to make the final 7-1. The third game of the tournament was against the Bettendorf Demons. The Demons played some great soccer and beat the Prowlers 6-0. All of the Prowlers players played hard and never gave up against the Demons who established themselves as the team to beat during the Tournament. The loss left the Prowlers with one more game for Third Place. The Prowlers came out strong against a good Kaneland Kinghts team and won 6-0. Bruns had two more goals, Kearby added two, Cody Gotchie netted his first goal of the year and Craig Schlegel scored as well to give the Prowlers third place. A great weekend for soccer and a great showing by the Prowler Team. The last home game of the year is Saturday May 31 at 2 at PrarieFestPark. Admission is free this game so please come out and enjoy some soccer.
