Strong Play Print
Monday, 08 September 2008

The U11 Prowlers opened up league play on Sunday September 7th against the Oak Brook Soccer Club in Oswego. The Prowlers jumped ahead early when Jackson Frazer netted his first goal of the year on a nice cross from Mitch Kearby. The Oak Brook team came storming back and tied the score 1-1. The defense of the Prowlers was led by Craig Schlegel, Sean Raleigh, Kurtis Klingbeil and Nate Molina who played strong and kept the Oak Brook team from having many chances. The midfield play of Mitch Blocker, Kearby, Tim Mackey and Frazer again controlled the ball for the Prowlers and created numerous opportunities.

In the second half the Oak Brook team came out strong and scored two quick goals to gain a 3-1 advantage. The Prowlers got some strong play up front from Chase Bruns and Kyle Straznickas and were finally able to put another goal in the net, this one by Kearby, to get within 1 goal. Bruns followed the goal by Kearby with one of his own minutes later to tie the score at 3-3. That is how this hard fought game ended with both teams playing well. Both goalies for the Prowlers played great in goal with Klingbeil in the first half and Raleigh in goal for the second half.

The next home game for the Prowlers at PraireFest Park is Tuesday September 23 at 6:45 against the Genesis Soccer Club of Yorkville.
