U8 Stars Off to 2-0 Start |

The U8 Stars played their second game of the season, taking on the Lemont Raiders. The Stars tallied the first goal of the game on a nice shot by Kaylee Zimbelmann. The Stars had several more chances during the first half, but were either turned away or just wide of the goal. Lemont came back to score two first half goals to give them the lead at halftime 2-1. The Stars regrouped at half and scored quickly. Kaylee scored two more goals to give the Stars the lead once more at 3-2. Meanwhile, the defense of Holly Gotchie and Maya Bonie limited the Raiders' scoring chances, along with another fine effort by Kate Duncan in goal. Madison Woolf scored her first goal as a Star and gave the Stars a 4-2 edge. The strikers' Megan Popple and Morgan Loncala continued to put pressure on the Lemont goalkeeper, and Morgan broke through to score a goal to give the Stars a little breathing room at 5-2. It turns out all five were needed as Lemont scored two late goals to cut the lead to 5-4. Audrey Mockenhaupt was able to disrupt the last scoring chance by the Raiders and the Stars came away with the 5-4 advantage.
