The U8 Stars kicked off their spring season this past Sunday against Campton Acad Florida St. The Stars began the scoring with a goal by Kaylee Zimbelmann. Megan Popple followed with a nice dribbling move past the defender to get a clear shot on the goal, which made it 2-0. The Stars had several chances in the first half, including a couple shots by Morgan Loncala, but were turned away by a solid Campton goal keeper. Campton scored a late goal to make it 2-1 at the half. In the second half, Kaylee gave the Stars some breathing room with a goal. Madison Woolf played her first game with the Stars and was all over the field, keeping the pressure on the Campton defense. Kate Duncan finished up the scoring for the Stars to complete the 4-1 victory. Along with fine goal keeping by Kate and Morgan, the steady defensive trio of Holly Gotchie, Maya Bonie, and Audrey Mockenhaupt held Campton to the lone goal. The Stars will take on the Lemont Raiders this Saturday.
