On June 20th of 2009 The U14 Girls From The Panther Soccer Club of Oswego known as the “ICE” played 8 of their players in the Highland Games 5v5 Tournament.
In the first of 4 games the Ice came out and Nina Hauser scored the first goal of the game unfortunately it was the only goal that the ICE scored for the game and the ICE lost 5 to 1 against the Carol Stream Panthers, but it did get the ICE ready to play more aggressively .
In the second game the ICE played against Bartlett (simpson), this time the ICE were ready with 2 consecutive goals from Brittany Brewer and 1 goal from Holly Schwarz, with a win for the ICE 3 to 1. The 3rd game the ICE played was against the Fox Valley Strikers u13 T.A.D team even though the ICE lost this game 0 to 3 the ICE held the score down and showed that the defense could definitely hold the Strickers from running up the score,
In the 4th and final game the ICE went for the win again with Bridgett Leverich scoring 2 back to back goals and Kate Stefanski scoring a goal as well, with a win for the ICE 3 to 1. Playing for the ICE were Madison Naro, Taylor Robinson, Nina Hauser, Brittany Brewer, Kate Stefanski, Holly Schwarz, Bridgett Leverich and the awesome Emily Maslanka in Goal, everyone of these girls worked hard and put effort in to this tournament.
This was a Hot tournament as far as heat goes it was over 95 degree’s and it had rained a ton the night before, but that did not stop these girls from coming out and playing good soccer, the final placement for the tournament was the ICE in 3rd place, but that just shows that the ICE are improving every year, last year they finished in 4th.
The entire ICE team continues to improve and make us proud.
