On Sunday, the Stars took on Team Elmhurst Select.  Last year, Elmhurst easily defeated the Stars, handing them one of only two losses during the Spring Season.  On an unseasonably hot day, the Stars played very well, putting pressure on Elmhurst from the beginning.  Lauren Gotchie played in goal during the first half and prevented any scores.  Maya Bonie took over in the second half and preserved the shut out. Offensively, the Stars placed many shots on goal during the first half and seemed to dominate the field.  The defense tracked down almost every threat and played very well all game.  The game remained tied until late in the second half when Kaylee Zimbelmann placed a nice pass to Mia Lakstigala who netted her shot.  The Stars continue to show progress in learning the 9 v 9 format and assimilating the four new players.  The win gives them a season record of 2-2-1, placing them solidly in the middle of the pack.  Next week they travel to Rockford to play in the Superclubs Tournament.
