On Saturday, the Stars hosted the Fire. The Stars looked sluggish in the beginning of the game, allowing a quick goal for a 0-1 deficit. That goal woke up the Stars and Rachel Savaglio one touched a perfect pass from Kaylee Zimbelmann who raced down the left side and sent a late cross to Rachel. Maddie Woolf then dribbled through a few defenders and nailed the ball past the keeper for a 2-1 lead. Kaylee Zimbelmann assisted another goal, this time to Lauren Gotchie who received the pass at the top of the 18, dribbled in and nailed a shot into the upper right corner. Angeline Lewis then surprised everyone with a 20 yard shot into the left side of the net for the 4-1 lead. The Fire later scored to make the final score 4-2, Stars. Maya Bonie and Brittni Ice combined to play great at goalkeeper and contributed on defense as well. Holly Gotchie played very well on the defensive end. Riley Cassian and Holly Sutkay played well and supplied plenty of offensive pressure.
On Sunday, the Stars travelled to Wheaton to again take on the Fire. Lauren Gotchie and Brittni Ice combined for the shutout. Defensively, the Stars played much better and did not allow a shot on goal during the first half. Brittni Ice controlled a loose ball and powered it over the keeper for the 1-0 lead. Later, Kaylee Zimbelmann struck a perfect corner kick off of a defender for the final goal of the game and the 2-0 victory. The Stars now have 5 victories against 2 losses in league play.
