On Saturday the Panther Pride U13 girls met up with the Woodridge Storm at Prairie Fest Park for a divisional battle. The Pride started off the game slow and quickly went down to Woodridge 1-0, on an early break away. First half goalie Kristy Zimbelmann made several outstanding saves to keep the Pride only down by one. The Pride had opportunities to score but were not able to capitalize until the closing minutes of the first half when Jodie Makara took the ball from Woodridge switched the field to Kelsey Kraft who crossed the ball to Jordyn Sundberg who sent the ball into the back of the net. The Pride went into half time tied at one. The Pride came out on fire in the second half dominating the play and took the lead early when Kraft found Sundberg open on the wing; Sundberg let a blistering shot off from outside the 18 that knuckled into the top corner of the net. Minutes latter Madison Pence won the ball in the middle, passed to Kraft on the wing, who crossed the ball to Sundberg for the third goal. Kraft then added a fourth goal on a penalty kick. The Pride closed out the scoring when Mikaela Mockenhaupt took the ball up the middle found Kraft on the wing who again crossed to Sundberg who buried the ball into the back of the net giving the Pride a 5-1 victory.
On Sunday the Pride faced the NIFC Black. The Pride continued their dominate play from Saturday and controlled the game from the start. The defense of Kamryn Coppes, Carli Hix, and Hannah Elhers controlled the tempo of the game and gave the Pride attackers many opportunities to score. The Pride were able to capitalize when Mockenhaupt found Kraft open on the side, slide the ball through the defense and then Kraft took the ball to the net beating the NIFC keeper for the first score. The Pride added to their lead in the second half when Kraft made a beautiful pass to Sundberg who beat the NIFC goalie for the score. Sundberg scored the final goal on a Penalty Kick putting the Pride up 3-0. Outside Midfielders Megan Pfister, Cali Bonie, Alyson Simon and Katie Warren dominated the play at midfield controlling the outside of the field. Zimbelmann and Makara split the keeper duties and recorded their first league shut out of the season.
