On Mother's Day, it appeared the Orange Crush found their offense again when they beat the visiting NSA Jets 3-0. Abby Fioresi started the drive half through the first period when she fired a solid shot from the right side of the field that climbed up and over the goal keepers head. The second score began with superb tackle by Rachel Mittlestaedt in the backfield, then a pass to Brianna Welch who crossed to Kacie Moran, then to Alyssa Radakovich who set up Cori Welch, who finished with a strong shot to the upper right corner. The final score came in the second half from Moran who was attempting a cross from the right side and bent the shot just enough to skim over the keepers fingertips before landing in the back of the net. Emily Brandt and Camryn Beyers turned in impressive defensive performances that were key in staging the offensive assault. Carissa Brown used her speed and size on both ends of the field to win several key possesions deep in NSA territory. Rylynn McCaw split her time on the field and preserving the shutout in goal!
Yesterday the story line was back to more of the same when the girls traveled to Geneva to face the Eclipse. They came out with a lot of pressure on the ball and dominated the clock with time of possession. In fact, most of the game was played in the Eclipse half of the field. Much of the work done in practice was reflected on the field with outstanding passing and defensive pressure. Unfortunately, with over 30 shots on goal, the Crush just weren't able to buy a goal. The game ended in a scoreless tie. This moves the Orange Crush record to 2-0-3 for the season with the Kickers coming to town next week.
