The Panther Pride closed out the 2010 spring season needing three wins in their final three games to lock up first place. The Pride first faced the Hawks SC at Prairie Fest Park. The Pride came out on fire and dominated the game early. The Defense centered by Kamryn Coppes and flanked by Carli Hix and Hannah Ehlers shut the Hawks offensive attack down. The Pride found the net early when Kelsey Kraft made a cross to Madison Pence in the middle who buried the ball in the back of the net. Kraft and Pence hooked up again when Pence headed a Kraft corner kick into the goal. The Pride continued the scoring in the second half when Caitlyn Lukowski found a streaking Jordyn Sundberg for a pass. Sundberg took the ball evaded the defense and put the ball past the keeper. Pence closed out the scoring and completed her hat trick giving the Pride a 4-0 victory.

The Pride next met the Woodridge Storm in Woodridge. The Pride started off the game on fire and quickly took the lead on a blistering Kraft shot that found the back of the net. Woodridge answered with a breakaway goal on a shot that went just above the keepers out stretched hands. Strong midfield play by Katie Warren and Megan Pfister gave the Pride offense multiple opportunities and with seconds left in the half Sundberg made a centering pass to Pence who scored as time expired in the half. The Pride regrouped and took control of the match in the second half with strong defensive play be Hix and Ehlers. The Pride locked up the game when Kraft took a free kick across the front of the goal to a diving Sundberg who made a spectacular header to score, bringing the crowd to their feet. Kraft added two more goals, assisted by Mikaela Mockenhaupt and Sundberg, to complete her hat trick and give the Pride a 5-1 victory. Kristi Zimbelmann was outstanding in the net and made some fantastic saves to keep the Pride in the game until the offense began to strike.

In the final game of the season the Pride went to Lemont to face Windy City looking for a victory to lock in first place in the AB south division. The game started out as a physical battle between two teams that know each other well. Center midfielder’s Mockenhaupt and Jodie Makara as well as center defender Kamryn Coppes controlled the middle of the field dominating the play and setting up scoring opportunities. The Pride found the net first when Kraft, from a set piece, lobbed a ball into Pence who first bounced it off the post then buried it in the net. Windy City quickly came back and tied the game back up on a shot from inside the box to end the first half. In the second half Gianna Lopez provided a spark at forward making several runs and just missing the net but kept the Windy City defense on edge. Goal keeper, Kristi Zimbelmann turned away several Windy City shots to keep the Pride even. The Pride broke the tie when Lukowski stole the ball and found an open Kraft who evaded the defense with a nifty move and put the ball in the upper corner of the net. Sundberg and Kraft each added a goal later in the half to give the Pride a 4-1 victory and 1st place in the AB South Division. Congratulations Panther Pride.
