A Tale of Two Games
Monday, 14 September 2009 03:09

The U11 Prowlers from the Panther Soccer Club traveled down to Minooka to play the 3 Rivers Soccer Club in the first of their 2 games this weekend.  The Prowlers started off strong yet again peppering the 3 Rivers goalie with numerous shots by Chris Grober, Jackson Frazer, Mitch Blocker, Mitch Kearby and Gabriel Lopez.  They could not sneak one in till Grober was able to put a great shot in the back of the net.  The Prowlers defense led by Hunter Short, Tim Mackey, Michael Panek and Adrian Veseli did a great job containing the 3 Rivers Club only allowing a minimum amount of shots all day.  The score at half was 2-1 3 Rivers.  Chase Bruns did a great job in goal the first half and the Prowlers showed some excellent passing by Jakob Slavin, Tyler DeBoer and Nathan Molina.  The second half was more of the same for the Prowlers as they dominated possession of the ball and again could not get the ball in the net.  In the end the 3 Rivers team won this hard fought game 2-1.

The next day saw the Prowlers travel to Bolingbrook.  The Prowlers took out their frustration early and often on the Bolingbrook team.  Blocker started the scoring after a nice cross from Grober to give them a 1-0 lead.  Next it was Kearby who deposited a shot in the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.  Then the Prowlers had a beautiful shot by Grober to make the score 3-0 and then Hunter Short got in on the action with a nice left footed shot to give the Prowlers a 4-0 halftime lead.  All of the Prowlers goals were set up by some great passing and teamwork.  The second half was more of the same with Michael Panek netting one for the Prowlers along with Blocker and Kearby getting their second each in the game. The Prowlers moved the ball around and continued their much improved play with the final score of 7-0.  The win gave the Prowlers a mark of 1-1 on the year with a tough game against the Ajax team of Naperville this week.
