The U11 Prowlers had a busy weekend. They opened up play on Saturday against the Inter F.C. team from Palos Hills. The Prowlers started the game strong when in the opening minutes Mitch Blocker beat a defender on the left side and scored to give the Prowlers an early 1-0 lead. The Prowlers never stopped pressuring the visiting team as Nathan Molina continued his strong play by being in the right position for his first goal of the game to put the Prowlers up 2-0. Next it was Mitch Kearby who stole the ball away and deposited a shot in the net for a 3-0 lead. In the second half Blocker and Molina each netted their second goals of the game and Gabe Lopez got his first goal of the game to give the Prowlers a team win of 6-0. The Prowlers continue to pass the ball extremely well and use the whole field. They had some great passing by Tim Mackey, Chris Grober, Jakob Slavin and Tyler DeBoer. Hunter Short continued to lead a strong defensive unit in the back and allowed limited oppurtunities by the Inter FC team. Jackson Frazer was all over the field and made some great passes as did Michael Panek and Adrian Veseli. All three had quality shots on goal as well for the Prowlers. Chase Bruns played a great goal in the first half and also played a strong defense in the second half. The win meant the Prowlers are now 5-2 on the year.
The next day the Prowlers traveled down to Bourbannais to play Dabrico United. The game was back and forth at first but the Dabrico team started the scoring off when they had a ball sneak in the corner. Minutes later Bruns punted a ball from the goal box and took a single bounce over the goalee to score a goal. This gave the Prowlers some renewed energy. Lopez scored on a brilliant volley kick after a nice cross from Grober to give the Prowlers a 2-1 halftime lead. The second half was all Prowlers as the goalie couldn't control a shot by Blocker and Molina again was able to deposit a shot in the back of the net for a 3-1 lead. Finally, Frazer kept after a ball and would not give up and was able to put a goal in as well to put the Prowlers up for good 4-1. Defensively, the Prowlers played very well with Short, Veseli, Mackey, Panek, DeBoer playing some stellar defense. Kearby, Blocker and Grober kept up the pressure by providing nice crosses into the box for shots on goal. Lopez, Molina, Slavin and Bruns played strong up front and gave the Prowlers some much needed pressure up front. Again, the Prowlers are passing the ball well and playing well as a team. This gives the Prowlers a mark of 6-2 on the year and 8-2 including tournament play. The Prowlers play at home on Saturday at 3:00.
