On Friday, the Stars took on 2nd place Galaxy Blue.  Earlier in the season, the Stars handed Galaxy Blue their only loss in a 4-1 win.  The game opened with the Stars giving up an early goal to go down 1-0.  Maya Bonie played very well in goal during the first half, stopping a number of shots on goal.  Lauren Gotchie opened the scoring for the Stars when she struck a perfect shot from near the right sideline which sailed over the defenders and into the left side of the goal.  Lauren's goal seemed to spark the Stars offense.  Rachel Savaglio struck a hard shot which rebounded off the goal keeper to Brittni Ice who tapped the ball in for the 2-1 lead.  Rachel Savaglio then scored on a tap in after Kaylee Zimbelmann's penalty kick rebounded off the keeper.  Galaxy Blue kept their composure and scored again to cut the lead to 3-2.  The Stars' defense played hard and, for the most part, controlled their end of the field.  Maddie Woolf, Angeline Lewis, Maya Bonie, and Holly Gotchie were aggressive and well disciplined and helped to hold a very skilled Galaxy team to only 2 goals.   Late in the game, Rachel Savaglio took a rebound from Lauren Gotchie and passed the ball to Holly Sutkay who rocketed the ball into the net for the 4-2 lead.  Riley Cassian added the final goal after she controlled a difficult pass from Lauren Gotchie and slipped the ball past the keeper for the 5-2 final score.

The Stars ended the Just for Kicks indoor season with 11 wins, no losses and 1 tie.  They scored 64 goals and only gave up 12, for a goal differential of 52.  To put that accomplishment in perspective, the 2nd place team ended with a goal differential of 21.  The discipline, speed and aggressiveness of the Stars defense combined with the unselfish play of the offense really gave the Stars an advantage.  In the upcoming outdoor season, the Stars will need to continue to play well since they move up to a more difficult division.  Congratulations to the Stars on a stellar indoor season
