On Sunday, the Stars traveled to Northbrook to take on Spartan FC Select. The Stars had won their only game of the season and the their opponent had won its first two games. The game started off with both teams playing aggressively. The Stars struck first when Kaylee Zimbelmann crossed a pass to a wide open Holly Sutkay who one-touched the ball into the net. A short time later, Brittni Ice made a great save in goal when she deflected a rocket shot and prevented a goal. Unfortunately, the Stars failed to capitalize on any scoring opportunities for the rest of the game. Prior to halftime, Spartan FC Select added 3 goals for the 3-1 lead. During the second half, the Stars seemed a bit deflated and gave up an additional goal. The final score was 4-1 for the opponent. Hopefully, the Stars will be able to build on this loss, their first loss of the season and their first season loss since mid-way through the fall season.
