On Sunday, January 8th, the Stars played their first indoor game at the Aurora Sports Dome. The opponent was the Plainfield Legends Select U11. The game opened with each side trying to get used to the indoor surface. Not long into the first half, the Stars struck when Rachel Savaglio received a pass from Riley Cassian and nailed the back of the net. The play started when Mia Lakstigala passed the ball to Lauren Gotchie who then got the ball to Riley. Rachel was in perfect position to get her first goal of the game. Rachel scored again shortly thereafter for her second goal of the contest. The defense of Maddie Woolf, Angeline Lewis and Holly Gotchie was stifling throughout the first half. Maya Bonie made a couple of saves to add to the defensive effort.
In the second half, Kaylee Zimbelmann struck a high shot that came down in the back of the net for the 3-0 lead. Rachel Savaglio got the "hat trick" when she hit a ball high into the air that came down past the keeper and into the net. Shortly thereafter, Riley Cassian backpassed to Holly Gotchie. Holly passed it to Mia in the left corner. Mia then got the ball to Riley who was waiting in the center of the box where she struck the ball into the net for the 5-0 lead. A short time later, the Select scored on a beautiful corner kick that Lauren Gotchie barely deflected on a great attempt at a save. Kaylee Zimbelmann ended the scoring after putting two moves on defenders and hitting the top right corner of the net for the final score of 6-1.
